Dutch consultancy Stratix has released a January 2007 paper consolidating figures on FTTH homes connected in the fourth quarter of 2006. The report lists all known projects and identifies homes connected and homes served. Overall, the total is around 111.000 thousand homes connected and around 76.000 homes served.
Based on public announcements made by various players in the FTTx game back in 2006, Stratix then annouces a figure of 377.000 homes connected by end of 2007 (but this is announced, not realised) and 579.000 by 2010.
This may be old data, and I sure hope updated versions are published and made available, but it's still quite striking. I hope consultancies in many countries try to collate such information, because this, ultimately, is what will make incumbents and governments budge.
Go Netherlands!
