According to Broadband Reports, Verizon is phasing out the DSL terminology in its marketing material. All Verizon broadband services will now be called "High Speed Internet". Including DSL, which still constitutes the largest part of Verizon's footprint and can be as low as 1Mb/s download bandwidth. Michael Willner comments on this in a blog posting, and it's hard not to agree with him on the dishonesty of the move.
I've been repeatedly bashing cable operators for using the word "fiber" in their advertising, but this is just as bad. Sure, it's more discreet, but it's just as disingeneous. Sheesh, who can you trust these days!
