Antel targets 300 000 FTTH lines in Uruguay

Uruguay-drapeau1 It's been a while since I had a new country join the FTTH list (nice flag this time, and one I'd never seen before…) Not that I put too much faith in announcements before the first shovel is in the ground, but this is interesting: Uruguayan incumbent ANTEL has announced a plan to fiber 300k homes with PON as mentioned in this news announcement. ZTE is the vendor behind the deal.

Incidentally, it's amusing that ZTE could boast having deployed over 100 million PON lines. They might have sold that many ports, but I strongly doubt anyone has that many lines deployed…
